“How Can We Address Rising Rates of Hepatitis C Among California’s Youth?”
Monday, August 21, 2017, 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM Pacific Time.
The webinar is designed for anyone who works with youth and young adults, particularly young people who inject drugs, including staff and volunteers from syringe exchange programs, drug treatment programs, clinics, and organizations that serve people who are homeless.
The California Department of Public Health will discuss recent surveillance data showing an increase in hepatitis C cases among people under the age of 30 in California. In addition, programs serving young people who inject drugs will describe the communities they serve and their approach for working with young people. Webinar participants will have the opportunity to describe their own opportunities and challenges for working with young people to address hepatitis C and broader health concerns.
Participants will leave the webinar being able to:
1. Explain the trend of hepatitis C among people under the age of 30 in California;
2. Describe 2-3 successful approaches for working with young people to respond to the hepatitis C epidemic;
3. Articulate at least one strategy for overcoming a current challenge they are facing in their work with young people who inject drugs.
