When I was going through Hepatitis C Treatment I would wake up each morning and think to myself, what kind of day will this be? Will I feel good or bad, have a spurt of energy? Up, down, high or low?

Here is a excerpt from my Hep C Triple Therapy journey from April 2012.

I’ve been looking for a pattern to emerge.  Something that I can “count” on.  Just when I think I see one the wind shifts.  I woke  this morning with a slow start as each morning is like walking on a balance beam.  Today it dawned on me, What do I see?  Really.  Do I see only what is in front of my face or am I looking at the horizon to what is beyond the present?

When my energy is low and I’m wiped out, do I see defeat, do I see despair, do I see not making it to the summit.  NO! Determination rings in my ears and perseverance is set before me.  I choose to look beyond the moment, beyond the temporary.  I choose to see beyond who is staring back in the mirror.  I choose to see what God see’s. He sees us as valuable.  He sees us as treasure.  He sees us as victors, as conquerors. He sees us as giant killers.  He sees us as warriors.  He sees us worth dying for, worth living for.  He sees us by His side.  He sees us on the summit!

In 2 Kings 6:8-20 we see the wonderful reminder of the eyes of faith that God gave Elisha and his servants.  They were surrounded by the enemy, the army of King Aram who was ready to attack and destroy them.  In verse 15, “When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early the next morning, an army with horses and chariots had surrounded the city. (The enemy was getting ready to attack them. The servant of Elisha was frightened and asked Elisha–)“Oh, my lord, what shall we do? The servant asked.  (I love this part!  Here is what the eyes of faith sees that physical eyes cannot.)

“Don’t be afraid,” the prophet answered.  “Those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”  And Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes so he may see.”  Then the Lord opened the servants eyes, and he looked and saw the hills full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. As for the rest of this mighty story. . . God answered Elisha’s prayer, and enemy was defeated.

What enemy are you fighting in your life right now?  Who is surrounding you?  Do you see defeat or do you see yourself standing on the summit?  May I echo the words of Elisha, “Don’t be afraid, “ Those who are with YOU are more than your enemy.” Look past what is going on at the present.  Strengthen your Faith by turning your eyes on Jesus.  Go and dwell in His word.  His promises are true.  Ask Him to help you see through His perspective, His eyes and not your own.  Our God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.

What happened to Elisha was real.  The same God who surrounded him in protection and defeated the enemy, is the same God who surrounds YOU.  Don’t allow circumstances to make you hang your head in defeat.  Look up to see what God see’s.  He will WOW you with His presence.  Declare today, I will look past fatigue!  Today I will look past side effects!  I choose not to get caught up in a set pattern and allow my thoughts to dictate what is in my future!  I choose to see beyond today’s circumstances into the bright future that God has in store!

Thank you Jesus that you surround me with your protection even when my physical eyes cannot see it.  Open my eyes of faith so that I can see what you see.  Give me your strength and courage to walk by faith and not by sight.  In Jesus name I ask and pray.  Amen.
