You must give some time to your fellow men. Even if it’s a little thing, do something for others - something for which you get no pay but the privilege of doing it. ~ Albert Schweitzer
My dog sitter is a wise woman who gives me much more than peace of mind when my dog is under her care. Every so often, she says something that is exactly what I need to hear—something so profound that I write it on a card and post it in a prominent place. When the sun rises, I think of my dog sitter because she has reminded me of how I have lovely sunrises at my house. In short, my dog sitter has touched my life deeply and permanently because she drops little gifts into my life.
To some degree, we all do this for each other, particularly when we take the time to speak from the heart. We give when we raise awareness about hepatitis C, or when we support another through their struggles with this virus. We give when we show we are not afraid to tell another that we have hepatitis C. We give when we speak up and speak out. We give when we decide to change the world.
This Thanksgiving, may you give, and in turn, receive the countless gifts that return to us when we help others. Keep giving in the days after, and you will never run short of joy.
