In my previous blog, I urged readers to contact their Congressional Representative and urge him/her to cosponsor the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act. The National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable announced that on June 26, 2014, Senators Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Mazie Hirono (D-HI) introduced S. 2538, the Senate version of the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act. Now we have a chance to urge senators to cosponsor this act.
Act now by calling your Senators’ Washington, DC offices. Ask to speak to the staff person who handles health care issues. Whether you speak to that person live or leave a message, tell him/her : "My name is _________ and I live in (city/state). I would like Senator ______________ to cosponsor S. 2538, the Viral Hepatitis Testing Act. This bill would authorize badly needed funding for hepatitis B and C testing and linkage to care services.
Make sure you are personal when delivering your message. Explain why this legislation is important to you.
You can reach your Senators’ offices through the Capitol Switchboard, 202-224-3121 or find their contact information on the U.S. Senate website.
Thank you.
