"Of all the forms of inequality, injustice in health care is the most shocking and inhumane."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
In addition to his work with civil rights, Martin Luther King, Jr actively fought for equality in health care. In honor of this national holiday, I contemplated King’s words from a health care perspective, and offer my own.
I have a dream. I dream that everyone has access to affordable hepatitis C treatment. I dream that health care is available to everyone. I dream that we honor our veterans by offering them the simple, decent, right thing - health care. I dream that people with hepatitis C can stand tall and proud and in the light, out of the shadow of stigma. I dream that former and active drug users may live without shame, and may easily access help if they want it. I dream that those in prison have access to hepatitis C treatment.
I dream of a world with no more hepatitis C.
However, dreams are meaningless without action.. What are your dreams? What are you doing to change the world?
"If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving forward."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
