Today from 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM EDT is the National Viral Hepatitis Roundtable (NVHR) webinar on the health effects of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection that occur outside the liver, known as extrahepatic manifestations. Click here to sign up for the webinar.
The presentation is part of the “Hepatitis C – It’s About More Than Liver Disease” project, which aims to increase awareness that HCV is a systemic health condition with health implications affecting a patient’s overall heath, not just the liver.
If you join in the webinar, you will learn more about how conditions such as kidney disease, depression, certain types of cancer, and diabetes are related to hepatitis C infection. The webinar will feature clinician and patient perspectives to facilitate discussion about the importance of recognizing these conditions as part of HCV management and the implications for early HCV treatment.
The panelists are:
- Zobair Younossi, Chairman, Department of Medicine, Vice President for Research, Founding Director of the Center for Liver Diseases, Inova Health System, Fairfax, VA
- Kristen Lee, Medical Director, Adult Primary Care Hepatitis C Treatment Program, Boston Medical Center, Instructor of Medicine, Boston University School of Medicine
- Laura Stillman, HCV patient who will share her experience
