Walgreens now offers more than 100 specialized pharmacies in the United States for people looking to treat and cure the hepatitis C virus (HCV) with new, next-generation treatments, The Wall Street Journal reports. The new Walgreens Connected Care hepatitis C education and support program has been designed to help patients adhere to their medications, improve their overall quality of life and eventually achieve a sustained virologic response (SVR), which is considered a cure. Hep C specialty pharmacies will provide patients with next-generation HCV treatments, as well as 24-hour access to pharmacists specifically trained on the new oral therapies.
