Hepatitis B screening isn’t a simple blood test with just a negative or positive result. Hepatitis B screening looks at antigens (the virus) and antibodies (the response to the virus). The results tell you:
- If you have ever been infected with hep B
- If you are currently infected
- If you are immune to hepatitis B
Talk to your doctor about your test results. Your results were positive for hepatitis B surface antibodies and negative for core antibodies. This indicates that you were vaccinated for hepatitis B and that you are immune. You are not infected, cannot spread hepatitis B to others, and cannot be infected.
