A 15-year-old high school student in Greenville, South Carolina, is hosting a local concert Saturday, August 31, to help raise awareness for the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Ann Ludlow, who is working toward her Girl Scout Gold Award, said her mother inspired the event by undergoing a year of successful treatment for hep C in 2011. “I hope I could save a life, and I hope I can teach others what [hep C] really is,” said Ludlow in an interview with Hep blogger Lucinda K. Porter. Ludlow’s Facebook event page—“C This Is What It Is”—is recruiting local bands and volunteers to help out with the concert.
